Hi,
My name is Jessica Vuong. I am a Vietnamese 3D artist currently based in Philadelphia, pursuing a degree in Animation and Visual Effects at Drexel University, where I expect to graduate in 2028.
My creative journey began early in childhood, when I would sketch small, simple things that popped into my imagination using pastel colors or pencils. This love toward visual storytelling led me to explore the world of animation, and over time, it has become a true passion that I am dedicated to developing into a career.
In addition to animation and 3D art, I enjoy photography and filmmaking. These creative outlets allow me to experiment with visual composition, color, lighting, and emotion— all
things that help me with my digital work. I see each project as a way to tell my stories, not only as an artist but also as a Chinese-Vietnamese individual living in the US. Through this,
I also connect with people.
From 2024 to 2025, I worked as a VFX Assistant at Joteva Studio. During my six months there, I collaborated on a nature-inspired, unannounced project where I created flip fluid, pyro, and particle simulations using Houdini. I also developed shaders and lighting setups in Karma render, helping to achieve the lead artist’s vision. I maintained consistent communication with my supervisor through daily written updates and weekly meetings and took initiative in researching tutorials to learn new techniques and improve my workflow.
Looking ahead, I aim to create imaginative, emotionally resonant worlds through
animation, visual effects, and storytelling that inspire and captivate audiences.
